Driver Spotlight: Carl Edwards and CJ McLaughlin Moments

It’s gonna be a blast. Can’t wait for this one Col Track. It’s Carl Edwards. Cool. Fancy Carl Edwards. Carl Edwards, although you’re joking.

My ex-wife,

my ex-wife was a huge fan. He said. So great. That’s one way. Oh, look at that. I hope I was part of the problem. That makes me feel better about myself. Myself. I’m massive. Um, cool. What you guys working on? Uh, this is, uh, I’m the Jim. Oh yes. Oh, I saw. Thank you. Appreciate it. So sorry. That was really bad. I made the ex-wife joke about No, that was gonna turn Paul into bed the whole time.

I didn’t realize we were the same height. I’m like pretty like about that. He’s taller. He is taller than me. He’s taller, dude. Who’s more charismatic? You’re Carl. It’s hard. Oh, I don’t, y’all both. High energy. Y’all are both high energy. That’s great. Carl, what are you doing at the track this week? So, um, yeah, I feel like, is this a custom tailored shirt or what?

No, no, it’s not. Mostly just so big. This guy’s great. This is awesome. I’m a CJ McLaughlin fan now. Exactly. We all are. So y’all, I’m doing the prime broadcast. Yeah. Oh shit. So I feel like it’s my first race ever. I was telling my wife, I was like, I feel like I’m going racing and I’m not prepared. So I’ll just walk around meeting everybody, seeing what’s up. Ryan Ellis really wants to get 10 finish.

It’s fun where you. I’m from Boston originally, so like not many northerners who can like, speak,

humility. He has it, it’s awesome. Um, no, let’s, you’re from Boston and um, is this your team or are you No, no, no. This is DGM. So like great group of racers. Uh, very passionate. Mario, who’s actually renting right out. The owner, his daughter Megan’s here. Hey, nice to meet. Nice meet Carl. I actually have Steve Ton.

Oh my gosh, dude. So now. So you, you’re fast. That’s good. Now I know. Well fast Steve. You know, I know I can hold the gap way. You can’t be slow with this guy.

Patriotic Style and Memorial Day-Themed Car Reveal

So Ryan, you got a new sponsor on the car, new helmet, new paint scheme. It’s camoed up for Memorial Day. Tell me a little bit about it. First off, didn’t know if camo roadway blew look good, but this actually came out phenomenal. Um, helmet painter, shell shock, uh, turned it around. I think he got this helmet Friday as in like, yeah, whatever.

To go now. Um, got it back to North Carolina three or four days later. Looks phenomenal. Little stars. Um, glitter in here in the blue, obviously camera blended everything together. Way better than I ever could have imagined considering how the different elements of the scheme. But, um, looks really, really cool.

I think it’ll look great in the light and uh, the amount of direction I give him for him to have something like this is just so cool. I just sent him the car, some logos and like, do you need anything else? Nope, it came out this good.

You are all red, white, and blue for Memorial Day. You look like an American flag here. Yeah, I do. Yeah. I haven’t seen this, like I haven’t cut the suit on five minutes ago, so I think it turned out great. You got a camel. Car, American Black Fire Suit, and a half Asian driver.

Cj, it’s time for practice. What’s the emotion?

Practice Day Jitters: CJ McLaughlin Hits the Track

CJ McLaughlin is next out. Seen Josh in this car a couple times this year. So I’m really curious to see CJ’s lap here. He texted me about a week ago, said, Hey, any tips for Charlotte? I said, all right, bud. Here. Here’s some things I know. Here’s some notes of mine. Cj, I hope it works for him. I have no idea.

He’s a great guy. Yeah, so always, so positive and just happy to be there. You gotta find a little bit more speed though. Yeah, his entry speed just looks super slow right there on motor both ends. Yeah, like just whether that car’s loose, he’s just having to whoa it up. You just could tell on on both ends, like the entry speed looked way down and that’s not gonna be the lap he won at 33 13 for CJ McLaughlin.

Jenny through the middle though, not too bad. You see that wiggle, you’ll have that here. Especially when you run that resin for whatever reason. You’ll have the front end grip, grip, grip, un grip, and it forces the car to almost have that wiggle at times. It’s really an awkward feeling. It’s sort of only there because that resin higher through three and four.

It just looked like he couldn’t pick up the product quick enough, like his ENT entry speed looked pretty good. But then the X. It’s just a little bit off. Eighth for Ellis at a 31 6 68.

The Mission for a Top Finish: Frustration Meets Focus

So cj, this is a little different than Texas. We’re in the show ready to go. How you feeling going out Charlotte? Uh, frustrated for a couple different reasons and qualify well, uh, but really pumped to have Shop Monkey on board this weekend, Ryan Ellis attempts to get 10 finish.

Uh, it’s been a long time coming and, um, just need to race well and keep my head on straight. It’s a 300 mile race and. Uh, I gotta be there at the end. Hopefully. Hopefully some cars roll out and uh, I just get faster as the day goes on. Absolutely. Let’s get after it. Oh, there we go. Fire suits. Ready to go?Oh, no, we killed Ryan.

An Emotional Victory and a Well-Earned Celebration

You did it. I wanted to go floppy fish on you charm right here. Hey, it’s my, Hey, it’s my first. You wasn’t even looking at me,

bud. It’s all good. What does that mean to you emotionally and what are you gonna do a. Celebrate tonight. Sleep. Sleep. You made it change a lot of diapers. I don’t know. Um, dude, I know I’m gonna drink zeroes. I already said that, Gary. Thank you. Um, I don’t, I really don’t drink often, but I, I have a case of it at home, so I will, um, I’m gonna sleep good for the first time.

No, I won’t sleep good. We got a three month old. Um, I’m gonna remove the monkey that I bought on Amazon and, uh. My cart because I don’t have to put that in my back anymore unless they, unless we have tech issues. So I gotta always put that out there. I gotta put the pre jinx out there. Oh, shoot. I’m so excited.

I’ve screamed. As soon as you crossed the line. And I saw it. I was like, this is awesome. I was like, oh, oh, I think I did. And then I, that’s, I was like, uh, crying and he was like, get the guy went one. I can hear it. As soon as he said guy, that’s why I kept waiting. Yeah. I was like, he was crying. That’s, that’s why I kept waiting. Yeah. I kept waiting, so I was like, all right, man up, man up. Good job !
